The unfortunate incident was said to have happened after a failed £2,000 butt enlargement surgery in Bangkok, Thailand. Dailymail made it known that  Anietie, who is Joy’s older brother, living in Nigeria, revealed that the family didn’t even know she’d traveled to Thailand.
“We don’t really know what went wrong, we only know what is in reports in the media.” Anietie said.
Aniete however made it known that preparations are in top gear to bring her remains home. The young lady, according to UK Telegraph, relocated to the UK from Nigeria in 2007 and to live with her mother in Thamesmead. She however died on October 23rd after visiting a clinic called SP Clinic in Thailand which she got to know about through the internet.

She visited SP clinic on October 14 with the hopes of having a fuller, bigger and enhanced bottom. An operation in which her wounds became infected after few days. This made her to go back for a corrective surgery, or probably removing the silicon implants.
But unfortunately,  she was found dead on the operating table with a three inch-long stitched incision on her tail bone after medical staff found they were unable to resuscitate her. However, Thai officials investigating her death believe her operation had been delayed to ensure Miss Williams had not eaten anything beforehand and that as a result, the operation began after the clinic’s legal closing time of 7pm.
It is believed Miss Williams had long struggled with her self-esteem and been bullied at school before choosing to undergo an operation on her nose to improve her looks. She was said to have stayed at the £11-a-night Vabua Asotel hotel which is used by the clinic as accommodation for its patients.
Fifty-one-year-old Sompob Sansiri, who’s the doctor who carried out the surgery, has been arrested and accused of negligence due to his acts of carrying out operations at nights without license. He has been charged with recklessness causing death and could face 10 years jail term if found guilty.

Furthermore, the clinic has been closed for 60 days now as investigations are still ongoing. Thailand is a world-leader in cosmetic surgery tourism with many companies offering procedures at discounts of up to 60 per cent. The industry earned the country £2.68billion in 2013 alone.

One of the deceased’s friend who spoke with UK Telegraph said she had suffered bullying and low self esteem issues while they were in school and that she was never happy with herself.
“She was a really, really nice girl. She was very friendly and caring. She was always helping her mum with her brothers. She was a very bright girl and did well at school. She was a bit shy and quiet and I knew in later years there was something wrong and upsetting her.
At school she had been bullied over her appearance and she went for surgery on her nose and face. Last time I saw her it was obvious she had had cosmetic surgery. She was fine before, she didn’t need to. She was fine the way she was but she just wasn’t happy. She had no self esteem and I guess she felt she needed to do it. She was just never happy with herself.”
Police are now waiting for the postmortem result which would determine if the doctor will be charged for medical negligence.
It would be recalled that just recently, made it known that he has  a great desire to live a normal life.

Jian Ghomeshi Sex Scandal: No More Shades of Grey?

Jian Ghomeshi Sex Scandal: No More Shades of Grey?

UPDATE: Lawyer and author Reva Seth has put her name to the allegations.
Eight women have now come forward with detailed and similar stories of sexual assault and harassment by former Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) golden boy Jian Ghomeshi, including Trailer Park Boys' actress Lucy DeCoutere, the only woman to date who has put her name to the allegations. Another did a radio interview Wednesday with CBC’s As It Happens. Ghomeshi is believed to have left the country, spotted in Los Angeles.
Imagine warm and affable Fresh Air host Terry Gross ensnared in a lurid S&M sex scandal and you’d have a good sense of the public disbelief -- and indignation -- all over Canada over the firing by CBC of Ghomeshi and the mounting accusations of violence against women, including choking, face slapping, hitting and hair-yanking. The popular personality was dismissed abruptly from his daily syndicated talk show Q after the pubcaster received unspecified "information" about his private life.
The fireable offense was revealed to be accusations by a former girlfriend that Ghomeshi was physically violent with her, something the 47-year-old British-born Canadian didn’t exactly deny, but rather pointed out via a 1600-word Facebook post he had a taste for "rough sex" with consenting partners, and detailed previous escapades including "role-play, dominance and submission." Ghomeshi addressed his supporters in a Facebook post on Oct. 30: "I want to thank you for your support and assure you that I intend to meet these allegations directly. I don’t intend to discuss this matter any further with the media."
The Toronto Star, which has been leading reporting of the story, offered a contrasting narrative in a Oct. 26 piece, citing three anonymous women alleging unwanted violence during past sexual encounters with Ghomeshi; A fourth unnamed accuser, a CBC colleague, recalled unwelcome verbal come-ons and groping in the Q studio. Furthermore, journalist Jesse Brown, who co-authored the Star piece, tweeted on Oct. 28 that “more women have come forward to us.” That highly detailed story was published Wednesday evening (Oct. 27). None of the accusers have filed charges with the police.
Now the CBC has asked its employees to help with a widening internal probe into the popular radio host after his firing. "As part of our continuing investigation, we will take into account any new information that becomes available to us, either directly or indirectly," Roula Zaarour, CBC/Radio-Canada’s VP of people and culture, said in an internal memo obtained by Billboard. "When we identify behaviors or activities that are inconsistent with our established policies, we have a responsibility to take appropriate action, and we do," she added.
The controversy comes at an inopportune time for Ghoneshi, whose star was rising on American radio where Q is syndicated to 180 NPR/PRI stations. In the last 8 years, the former drummer and singer in novelty pop group Moxy Fruvous had interviewed Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Tom Petty on the show. His handling of the cantankerous Billy Bob Thornton during a Q interview in 2009 helped launch Ghomeshi's fame outside Canada.
Prior to the Star’s even more explosive follow-up story, peers, colleagues, pundits and former friends were taking sides. Polaris Music Prize winner Owen Pallett denounced Ghomeshi’s actions on Facebook, writing, “At no point here will I ever give my friend Jian’s version of the truth more creedence than the version of the truth offered up by three women. Anonymity does not mean these women do not exist.” He concluded with “Jian Ghomeshi is my friend, and Jian Ghomeshi beats women. How our friendship will continue remains to be seen.”
On the flip side, synth-pop artist Lights, who has been managed by Ghomeshi for the past 12 years, writes of her experience: “Jian is not an example of someone who is abusive or misogynistic, in fact, he has always preached to the empowerment and limitless strength of women to me… It is not my business or anyone else's what someone does in their private time and it's unfair that his is being broadcast to the world. For shame.”
How Lights -- and other supporters -- now feel in light of the new allegations remains to be seen.
Marusya Bociurkiw, associate professor of media theory at Ryerson University in Toronto, cautions against getting caught up in the tabloid frenzy over a scandal-plagued radio host whose fans cling to him as a hero while detractors wait for more shoes to drop. "This has nothing to do with whether these allegations have been proven in a court of law -- statistically, the law is rarely on the side of sexually abused women, particularly in this sort of celebrity situation," Bociurkiw tells Billboard. “There is an ethical mode of journalistic enquiry and I think it's up to all of us to set the proper tone.”
As for Q, the CBC is currently trying out a rotation of guest hosts until a more permanent solution can be reached.

These inventive tweaks will shake up your favorite sex positions—and the results are volcanic. ‘How we were raped’

Some rape victims last Thursday visited the National Assembly last to plead for the speedy passage of the Sexual Offences Bill pending for over two years.
Assistant Editor, Onyedi Ojiabor presents the moving stories of the victim.
Victim 1
I was raped by two guys when I was returning back to my extra moral lesson at 3pm on 28 of April 2014 in Enugu. I know the boys. I reported to my brother and he took me to the police station immediately and they were arrested by policemen.
The incident has affected me. I was in SS 2 when I was raped. I was supposed to take my senior WAEC but I repeated the class and the whole village is happy that the boys arrested. What I don’t know is how the police is handling the matter. Left for me the boys should be jailed to serve as a deterrent to others.
Victim 2
I am an auxiliary nurse and 21 years old, I was raped by my cousin. I was coming back home from the office around 6 pm, when my cousin called and told me he was sick. I told him that I won’t be able to see him because it was late but from the way he sounded on phone I was moved with pity, coupled with the fact he had a history of heart problem, I decided to go visit him.
Little did I know he was not sick. I met him on my way to his house. He was dressed in a white cardigan, along a narrow, lonely road.
In an attempt to feel his pulse, he grabbed me on the neck and we started struggling but he overpowered me and raped me.
I went home bleeding and thereafter reported the incident to my dad, who busted into tears.
An attempt to interrogate the boy failed as his father hid him. We then went to the police station the day after. Right now the boy is in Police custody
Victim 3
I am 15 years, I am in SS2. I was raped by a young man known as Ugochukwu. On the 11th of October 2014, I was on my way to the market, that was when he saw me and called me, pretending to have a message for me.
That was when he started making some advances and I turned it down. He then invited one of his friends and they both raped me. He was later arrested. It affected my education
Victim 4
I am 40 years old. I have been married for 17 years now and I have been in pains in the last 14 years. I have been suffering from domestic violence. I have been keeping quiet about the whole abuse from my husband.
One of the cases is this year when I was pregnant with my last child. I went for HIV test as part of the requirement in the hospital and they discovered I was positive. We were both placed on anti-retroviral drug but he later stopped taking his medication and started threatening to kill me because I refused to go to bed with him. He stopped taking care of me and my 5 children.
He burnt our wedding picture. I reported to the police and he was arrested and detained but was later granted bail. Right now I have left the house

Why I sometimes want to show off —Annette Cookey

Why I sometimes want to show off —Annette Cookey

Annette Cookey, a graduate of physiology from University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is a singer, song writer, model, TV host and actress. In this interview with TAYO GESINDE, the third runner-up winner of Project Fame West Africa 2008 edition, speaks on her passion for music, how she handles her male admirers and her fashion preferences. Excerpts:
Growing up
I grew up in a very artistic home. My dad was a lover of all genres of music from reggae, blues, pop, afro beat, highlife, afro juju, jazz to hip-hop and r & b. My mum was a choir leader and a soprano singer. I am the second of four children. It was a lot of fun as we were a bunch of talents. While growing up, I had lots of fantasies. At a time, I wanted to marry Michael Jackson. Later, I wanted to host my own television show and also be a music sensation. I had my nursery and primary education at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Staff School. I attended Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Sagamu, Ogun State then proceeded to the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State where I studied Physiology.
Foray into the entertainment industry
Music came first. I started singing when I was barely five years old, but professionally, it was in 2001.  I was doing back up vocal for several artistes but in 2008 after emerging third  runner up in Mtn Project Fame West Africa, I decided to go fully into music. Acting, I would say, came naturally. From my childhood days, I had always wanted to act. I loved imitating my favourite actors on TV. Apart from that, I did a lot of drama in primary and secondary schools as well as in church. I always say that musicians are actors in a way, portraying different acts in their different songs. Modelling on the other hand came by association. The truth is I never thought of myself as a model but interestingly, people would always want to use my photos for one advertisement or the other  while in the university. So, a friend of mine  advised me  that I should start charging them for  the pictures. And that was how I started modelling. From campus magazines to calendars, TV adverts and billboards. I am also a fashion television host and that takes lot of my time as well.

Project Fame experience
Project Fame was fun, hectic and enlightening. It was an eye opener and that was where I decided I would make music as a career. It was drilling, but I learnt to multi-task and accommodate others in my field.
Most challenging of the three (music, acting and modeling)
Hmm!  That is a tough one. They all are uniquely very challenging but I’d say music is the most challenging. If I were to pick one out of the three, I would choose music over the rest.
First experience on set
My first experience was exciting. Acting was not as easy as I had anticipated but I loved every bit of it. I started out with a soap opera titled  Sabaabi which aired on Star Times from 2010 till early 2012. I have done mostly comedy skits and soaps. Love Notes is my first movie and the most challenging too.
Most embarrassing thing a fan ever did to me
I wanted to shake a fan and she suddenly picked me up like a baby and dropped me. She didn’t mean to though, I guessed she was very excited as I sang a few lines of her favourite song to her.
Pains and gains of being a celebrity
The pains are that you become a public person, you lose your freedom and can no longer be yourself. You are always under scrutiny and criticism. The gain on the other hand is having people acknowledge you and what you do. The most satisfying gain for me is when someone says to me, “Annette, I love your songs, you are great and are going places. It is an awesome feeling, then, there is money too. There is nothing like doing what you love most and making money out of it. Some even say thank you for this song and that song. It is humbling.
Coping with competition
For me, there is really no competition because I don’t see it as one. There is no bigger, better or more talented musician. We are all different and uniquely gifted.
Philosophy of life
Always do what is right, be yourself and treat people as you want to be treated.
Description of self
I am sassy, unpredictable, energetic, sweet and reserved.
Sexual harassment
I experience it everywhere. In the industry and the society in general.
Coping with advances from men
Just fine. I’m used to it. I guess I am becoming a professional at it.
Definition of style
Style is what uniquely stands you out in a crowd. It is originality and class. I don’t follow fashion all the time. I wear what fits me,  the occasion and weather condition. In fact, I do not necessarily follow fashion trends. I only use them as a guide sometimes.
Cost of looking good
It costs a lot o! I take at least two showers every day. I don’t like drinking water because I have a sweet  tooth.
I don’t sleep with my make- up on. I scrub my face and body at least twice a week. I eat fruits a lot too. Also, I have started taking food supplements to balance my diet because I sometimes skip meals when I am very busy. I can go on and on but those are my basic beauty routine. I dance a lot and swim too. That is how I exercise.
Fashion obsession
My fashion obsession are shoes. I love shoes the most.
Fashion icons
I have none. However, I admire a few people like Rita Dominic and Beyonce.
Choice of accessories
I use any accessory that complements my dress.
Accessories I can’t do without
I can’t go out without a bag and my sun shade.
Favourite perfumes
I have quite a lot. Fantasy by Britney Spears, 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden, Heat by Beyonce and Glow by Jlo
Favourite colours
Green in all shades, black and white.
What I can’t be caught dead wearing
Nothing really. As long as I am properly dressed, I can wear anything.
Opinion on toning
I honestly think it is a personal choice. If you must tone, just do it right or don’t do it at all. So many people condemn others for toning but in their hearts they want and wish to do the same. Some people like tattoos, some piercings while others like to tone. Whatever it is you wish to do, be modest with it and do it right.
What I will like to change about myself
Absolutely nothing. I only want to be a better person every passing day.
Opinion on cosmetic surgery
I have mixed feelings. It is scary. There are so many dangers in it but if it is for a good cause, especially when it has to do with accident, health issue, deformity, and so on, then, it is okay. But if it is  because of  the quest for more beauty, I don’t particularly like that. However, in the end it is a personal decision and if it makes you happy, go ahead. If you die in the process, too bad.
Special treat
I go to the spa, get a steam bath, go for  body wash and a full body massage. After that, I will go and shop for shoes and clothes.
Opinion on provocative dressing
Some times, the showbiz part of me wants to show off and be provocative. That doesn’t make it right but as I grow as a musician and lady, I believe you can be attractive without being over the top and provocative. Modesty is the key. When I am on stage, I can be anything without overdoing it but once I am off stage, I am a decent African woman.
Greatest physical asset
My lips.
My hair and nails
I love my natural hair because it is quite long so I maintain it properly but because of the harsh weather conditions, I cover it with nice weave-on once in a while. My nails are regularly manicured and pedicured. I hardly wear artificial nails
Secret of beauty
God! I don’t do anything special. Maybe when I am getting older, after child birth and nature is changing things then I might start doing something. For now, it is quite simple. I take regular baths, moisturise my skin, drink water and eat a lot of fruits.
My selling point
My music is deep. It always has a story that people can relate with and I am very versatile.
Strength and weakness
My strength is my versatility, while my weakness is not being able to write songs in pidgin English and our local dialect but I am working on it so, it won’t be a weakness for long.
Role models
In acting, Nse Ikpe Etim, Rita Dominic, Angelina Jolie and OC Ukeje. In music, late Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, late Aliyah, Don Jazzy because he is super creative, Waje and Omawunmi. In presenting, Dolapo Oni, Juliana Ransic and Jinnie Mia because they are effortless. I love Funke Akindele too and Liz Benson back then.
Where I get inspiration from
From almost everything. Nature, true life experiences of mine and others

Reasons your boobs hurt

Reasons your boobs hurt

Anne started feeling pains in her right breast. Initially she thought it was just something small that would go away.
She however became apprehensive when the pain was persistent and she had to visit her doctor. Anne went with a mindset that she probably had cancer, but after she was thoroughly examined, it was discovered that she had something simple. She had been taking strenuous exercises which affected her breasts.
There are a thousand and one reasons women can feel pains in their breasts. According to Dr Biodun Akinola, a consultant gynecologist an obstetrician; Medical Director, Tobiloba Hospital Abeokuta, when a woman’s breast feels sore and tender, it could be annoying and could create fear in the woman’s but generally, there should be no cause for concern. This is because; it is not every pain and sore feeling on the breast that leads to serious issues like Cancer.
Here are some common simple reasons women can feel sore and tender in her breast:
Pre menstrual syndrome:
The most common cause of breast pain is a change in hormones which comes along with your monthly period. This is a normal body response to shifts in estrogen and it typically manifests in swelling and tenderness on the day before your period begins and the first day of your flow. This type of boob soreness is related to your menstrual cycle. The good news is that it disappears when your period ends.
Too much work-out:
Maybe you did an extra round of pushups or a serious weight-lifting routine. This may seem like breast pain, but the discomfort actually stems from the muscles underneath the breasts. You can get relief by applying heating pads and taking a pain reliever as directed by your doctor
You pulled something:
It might not be at the gym, you probably may have lifted your furniture or heavy bags that may have strained those muscles under your breast. If so, that soreness might actually be coming from the muscles underneath your breast tissue again. You can treat it the same way you would above, with heat or pain relievers.

Your bra doesn’t fit properly:
The wrong bra size can have pretty serious consequences for your chest. If your bra is too tight or the cup is too small, the underwire may be pushing against your breast, resulting in sore and tender breasts. If you’re not supported enough, all the up-down-and-all-around movement throughout the day can lead to breast tenderness.
Lumpy breasts:
If you have lumpy breast tissue also known as fibrocystic breast tissue, then you are probably well acquainted with breast tenderness linked to your menstrual cycle
Too much latte:
While coffee and tea may not directly cause breast pain, reducing caffeine can help alleviate discomfort, especially for women with fibrocystic breast tissue. If your breasts feel particularly lumpy you should consider cutting down on caffeine.
Temporary breast soreness and sensitivity should not raise any hysteria, or send you running to the doctor’s office. It usually just lasts a few days then vanishes if the pain lingers or gets worse, then you can see your physician. Also, make a habit of regularly giving your breasts the monthly examination to make sure there are no changes in appearance, texture, or tenderness. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, inform your doctor at once.
